AURORA R-VIII BOARD VACANCY

At the May 2, 2022 Aurora R-VIII Board of Education Meeting, a resignation was accepted from one of the members.  The resignation created a vacancy on the Board.  The Board of Education is required by law to fill vacancies created when a Board member leaves office prior to the end of an elected term.

The Board is responsible for appointing an eligible person to fill the vacancy until the next April election, at which time a candidate will be elected to fill the remainder of the term, if any, or the new term.  This serves as notice that a position is available and made known to all parents and patrons of the Aurora R-VIII School District.  The notification will be posted on the District website and published in two local newspapers.

An application for the vacancy must be completed.  This application will serve as written notice that the person is eligible and wishes to be considered for the current Board vacancy.  If selected, service will begin immediately after being sworn in and will continue until the person elected in the April 4, 2023, election is sworn in.  The appointed person is also welcome to sign up to be a candidate in the April election when candidate filing begins in December.

The Board requires all individuals who wish to be appointed to the Board to meet the eligibility requirements for School Board candidates under Missouri law.  Applications will be received beginning Monday, May 9, 2022 through Thursday, May 26, 2022.  Days and times to obtain an application are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Interested persons should contact the superintendent, Billy Redus, at 417-678-3373, by email at bredus@aurorar8.org or visit the Central Office located at 201 S. Madison Avenue, Aurora, Missouri for additional information.
