Aurora R-8 Inclement Weather Information
With winter weather on the way, we want to remind families how Aurora R-8 will share information if there’s a change to the school day. Our first priority is always student and staff safety.
If school is canceled or dismissed early because of weather, families will be notified in several ways:
Text and Email: Parents and guardians will get a message directly from the district. Please make sure your contact information is current with your child’s school.
Facebook: Updates will be posted on the Aurora R-8 District Facebook page as well as each school’s page (Pate, Robinson, Junior High, High School, and ALC).
Local News: We’ll also share information with KY3 and KOLR10.
If school is closed, the district may use an AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Day. On an AMI Day, students will complete work at home, and the day will count toward attendance—no make-up required. Aurora R-8 has five AMI Days available for the school year.
If more cancellations occur after those five AMI Days are used, the following dates will be make-up days:
March 27, April 3, April 24, May 1, and May 15.
